Headquartered in New York City with European and Asian headquarters located in London Marina Bay Financial Centre Singapore Pacific Place Jakarta Sudirman Central Business District of Jakarta respectively.
Bloomberg Television was originally introduced in the United States during mid-1994 under its original name of Bloomberg Direct and first carried by DirecTV satellite television service. Following one year, however, its name was changed to Bloomberg Information TV before ultimately being reduced down to its present form in 1997. Network has taken over channel space vacated by Financial News Network and hired most of their former workforce. Soon after the debut of Bloomberg, American Independent Network carried a simulcast from 1995-1997 that could be found on some broadcast stations as an early morning business show.
Starting on July 1, 1995, CNBC's pre-opening bell programming (from 5:30 AM to 7 AM) was also broadcast live on USA Network as part of an agreed paid programming arrangement until 2004, when USA pulled back over fears it might interfere with CNBC's coverage and thus compete with it for viewers. Simulcast service then transitioned to E!. As CNBC became part of NBCUniversal following Comcast's acquisition, its simulcast was held until January 2009, when digital cable footprint expansion made the decision to end simulcast necessary. Nielsen Media Research records indicate that during E!'s time as part of NBCUniversal ownership and sister network CNBC, its 5-8 a.m. block was the most-watched time slot.
Bloomberg Television's U.S. network unveiled a new graphics package in January 2009, initially introduced on Starting Bell before expanding across all programs on February 17, 2009 (also the day when Bloomberg revamped its weekday programming schedule - see "Programs on Bloomberg" below).
In October 2009, Bloomberg Television unveiled an enhanced graphics package. Later that year, Bloomberg Television formed a strategic relationship with Gas Station TV (GSTV) to deliver personal finance and business news via LCD screens found increasingly prevalent at fueling stations (Cheddar is currently GSTV's business news provider).
Bloomberg first launched their HD simulcast feed on May 9, 2011 through Time Warner Cable; later in April 2013, DirecTV also began carrying it.
Since July 2014, Bloomberg Television's standard-definition feed now displays a scaled down version of its HD feed with 16:9 letterbox picture on 4:3 SD feed. In May 2020, they launched a 2160p 4K feed that utilizes more screen space to deliver news and information; currently exclusive to Samsung TV Plus for viewing purposes.
