CBC News is the division of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that gathers and produces news for English-language operations of the corporation, such as Television, Radio, News Network and CBC.ca. Established in 1941, CBC News is Canada's most prominent news broadcaster with local, regional and national stations; frequently working alongside Radio-Canada Info which remains separate organizationally.

On November 2, 1936, CBC launched their inaugural bilingual radio report. On January 1 1941 during World War II, Dan McArthur, then chief news editor, had Wells Ritchie prepare an evening report at 8 pm featuring announcer Charles Jennings with readers Lorne Greene, Frank Herbert and Earl Cameron following him around as readers. Subsequently on August 16 1943 at 7:45 pm, until it was later replaced by The World at Six on October 31, 1966.

CBLT in Toronto provided the first newscast, part of CBC Newsmagazine, in English language television on September 8, 1952; later that year CBC National News with anchors Larry Henderson, Earl Cameron and Stanley Burke was introduced before changing its name to The National in 1970.

The CBC first began providing news online via Newsworld Online website in 1996, followed by the launch of CBC News Online site in 1998. In 2017, The National was relaunched with four co-anchors from Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver acting as co-anchors at first with two anchors working Monday to Thursday and a single anchor acting on Fridays and Sundays respectively.
