France 24 is a publicly funded international news television channel based in Paris that targets overseas audiences through channels broadcast in French, English, Arabic and Spanish.
France 24 was launched on 6 December 2006 from its base in Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris and targets an international market, typically via pay television providers worldwide; but since 2010 has also broadcast online via iPhone and Android apps as well. France 24 offers live world news streaming on multiple mobile devices and digital media players as well as its website, YouTube channel, iPhone/Android apps, etc. Their stated mission is "providing global public service with a common editorial stance".
Since 2008, France 24 has been completely owned by the French government via France Medias Monde holding company; with their minority share purchased from Groupe TF1 and France Televisions respectively. France Medias Monde's annual budget (France 24, RFI and MCD combined) totaling around EUR300 Million per year and Vanessa Burggraf is currently serving as Director.
