TF1 Group, controlled by Bouygues conglomerate, owns and operates this popular French television channel with an average market share of 24% - making TF1 one of the most watched domestic networks.

TF1 is part of the TF1 Group of mass media companies, including LCI news channel. Prior to being sold off to Canal+ Group, TPS satellite TV provider was owned by TF1.

The network supports the Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HBBTV) initiative which seeks to establish an open European standard for hybrid set-top boxes capable of receiving terrestrial TV and broadband multimedia applications with one user interface.
